Jordan Pickford pushed his record-breaking clean sheet streak to 10 matches as England eased to a 2-0 victory over Serbia at Wembley on Thursday night.
The Everton goalkeeper was well shielded by his defence once again, with Thomas Tuchel’s side recording their seventh straight shutout and preserving a flawless defensive run in a pitch perfect qualifying campaign for the 2025 World Cup.
Bukayo Saka and Eberechi Eze supplied the goals against the Serbians, and England now head into Sunday’s meeting with Albania knowing another clean sheet would make them the first European nation ever to complete an eight-game qualifying cycle without conceding.
Pickford, who has been a mainstay for his country since his international breakthrough in 2018, now has 42 clean sheets in 81 caps.
History now beckons for both England and their No.1 — who has not conceded an international goal for well over a year. The last time Pickford was beaten came via Vangelis Pavlidis’ late strike in Greece’s shock 2-1 win at Wembley in October 2024. Since then, he has gone 900 minutes without letting in a goal.
