Aaronson Gets 9, Gruev With 8 | Leeds United Players Rated In Disappointing Loss Vs Newcastle United

Leeds United faced off against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park earlier tonight as they looked to secure a win on the road in the Premier League. The Whites made a good start to the game and scored the opening goal in the 32nd minute when Brenden Aaronson got his name on the scoresheet. Harvey Barnes equalised for the home side just four minutes later before Dominic Calvert-Lewin restored his team’s lead in the first half injury-time. Daniel Farke’s men were leading 2-1 at half-time.
Joelinton equalised for Newcastle in the 54th minute before Aaronson scored again for Leeds in the 79th minute. Bruno Guimaraes equalised from the penalty spot in injury time before Barnes scored a dramatic late winner for the Magpies in the dying embers of the game. The clash finished with the Yorkshire club suffering a disappointing 4-3 loss away from home.

GK: Lucas Perri – 6/10
He made a few important saves at the back but conceded four goals tonight.
CB: Joe Rodon – 6/10
Rodon failed to keep things solid when defending inside his half.
CB: Jaka Bijol – 6.5/10
He cleared his lines when he could, but it was not enough tonight.
CB: Pascal Struijk – 6.5/10
Struijk did his fair share of defending but failed to keep the opposition attackers quiet.

RM: James Justin – 7/10
He performed his defensive duties well and made one decent chance going forward.
CM: Ilia Gruev – 8/10
Gruev came back to defend when he could and managed to shine at times inside the Newcastle half.
CM: Ethan Ampadu – 6.5/10
He did his best to protect his backline but offered very little going forward.
CM: Anton Stach – 7.5/10
Stach got stuck in with some solid tackles and was a real menace in the opponent’s half.
LM: Gabriel Gudmundsson – 6.5/10
He did his fair share of defending but struggled to prove his worth in the final third.
CAM: Brenden Aaronson – 9/10
Aaronson scored two fine goals for Leeds but still ended up on the losing team.
ST: Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 8/10
He was not shy of having a strike at goal and ended the game with an assist to his name.
