Abel Ferreira insisted he will not rest players as Palmeiras compete on three fronts, with Gustavo Gómez and Jhon Arias suffering muscle issues in Wednesday's 3-0 win over Santos at Nubank Parque.

According to Globo.com, the pair will be re-evaluated on Thursday at the Academia de Futebol, when the squad reconvenes for training.

The Paraguay defender was withdrawn at half-time due to discomfort, and given a recent thigh problem the club acted out of caution. Ferreira noted Gómez had only just returned to face Cerro Porteño and said he had not yet spoken to him, with clarity expected after medical checks.

Arias left the pitch limping while holding the back of his right thigh, then applied ice on the bench. The Colombian was among the standouts in the victory that moved Palmeiras towards the Copa do Brasil semi-finals.

A heavy August schedule has taken its toll, with eight matches already played and another still to come before month-end. Injuries have also sidelined Ramón Sosa, Paulinho and Piquerez. Ferreira described the squad as lean and said staff would analyse the extent of Gómez and Arias’s issues.

Palmeiras face Mirassol on Sunday in the 25th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, kick-off 18:30 Brasília time at the Maião.
