Coventry City defender Liam Kitching picked up his third red card of the campaign in the Sky Blues' recent goalless draw away to Blackburn Rovers.
Kitching joined Coventry City from Barnsley last summer, with Mark Robins' side forking out a reported fee of £4million to bring the highly-rated defender to the CBS Arena.
But whilst the 24-year-old has performed well for the Sky Blues this season, his discipline may be a concern to some at the club, with three red cards in one season being far from ideal.
His first came against Sheffield Wednesday on Boxing Day, where he was shown a straight red card by referee Oliver Langford after the final whistle after a clash with Owls' man Bambo Diaby which led to Coventry boss Mark Robins claiming that Kitching was the innocent party after he'd been the victim of 'assault'.
He picked up his second dismissal of the season away to Norwich in February, where he picked up two yellow cards, and he was shown a straight red at Ewood Park on Saturday.
Despite Liam Kitching picking up three cards this season, all of which have come since Christmas, Football League World's Coventry City fan pundit Neil doesn't think it's a huge cause for concern.
He said, "I think Liam Kitching has been absolutely fantastic for us this season. Yeah, he’s got three red cards, but Hamer had a few red cards in his first season and so did McFadzean.
“Mark Robins has already said that he’s going to get his arm round him, but if you look at the red cards as well, the first one was after he’d been headbutted away against Sheffield Wednesday, and I’m not sure how that was a red card, but it is what it is, and he’d put in a man of the match performance - he was phenomenal that day.
“The other two have been last man pullbacks on strikers who have been through on goal.
"Robins said something about if he was in the right position he doesn’t have to make those challenges, which is true, but he’s done what a lot of centre-backs would do."
Considering he'd made the step up from League One, Kitching has slotted in nicely at Coventry City, and whilst being sent off three times is far from ideal, he'll be pleased with how he's performed.
As our Coventry City fan pundit pointed out above, the Sky Blues' faithful have been pleased with how Kitching has performed this season, and he's likely only going to get better in the years to come.
He's made 32 appearances in all competitions for Mark Robins' side since signing at the end of the summer transfer window, and has been a regular starter as Coventry reached the FA Cup semi-finals and look set for a top 10 finish in the Championship.
It should go without saying that Kitching needs to be a little bit more careful with his discipline next season, but on the whole, he's done well since moving from Barnsley last summer, and the club's supporters clearly aren't too worried.
