AC Milan have enquired about signing Nottingham Forest forward Omari Hutchinson, according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Rossoneri are in the market for attacking reinforcements as they are about to lose Rafael Leao, their talisman for the past few seasons.
Leao was Milan’s most productive player since his arrival from France, delivering 80 goals and 55 assists in that time, but he is now on his way to join Galatasaray.
Hutchinson is on the list of potential replacements. He could compete for the starting berth with Alphadjo Cisse.
The England Under-21 international has struggled for playing time with Forest, but could enjoy a new lease of life in Italy.
The 22-year-old started only 17 Premier League games last term, delivering only one goal and eight big chances created.
Hutchinson would be a questionable choice if Milan view him as a direct replacement for Leao.
The former Arsenal and Chelsea star is not a natural fit on the left even though he can play there.
He does his best work from the opposite flank where he can cut inside, combine with teammates and attack defenders on his stronger foot.
The Rossoneri should look for a genuine left winger capable of carrying the ball, beating his man and providing goals and assists from that side.
Hutchinson makes far more sense as competition for Samuel Chukwueze on the right, although they have Alexis Saelemaekers for that role.
With Chukwueze currently on fire and showing the consistency Milan have wanted from him, adding another talented right-sided attacker could give the squad greater depth and competition.
Hutchinson could thrive in that role, but replacing Leao is a different challenge entirely. The Rossoneri should be gunning for a specialist in that position.
