Maurizio Sarri could lose both of his primary centre-backs this month, with AC Milan in talks over Mario Gila and Alessio Romagnoli expected to depart.

La Lazio Siamo Noi reports that Milan chief executive Giorgio Furlani met Claudio Lotito before Lazio’s defeat to Como to discuss Gila’s potential transfer. Furlani is fronting the approach, with relations between Lotito and Milan sporting director Igli Tare recently strained after 15 years working together.

Lazio are preparing to part ways with Romagnoli, who has informed Lotito of his wish to leave. He is expected to join Roberto Mancini’s Al-Sadd on a three-year contract worth €18 million, with his final outing for the club set for Saturday at Via del Mare.

Lazio value Gila at €16 million and his deal runs to June 2027, while Milan have offered €11 million, leaving a €5 million gap. Real Madrid hold a 50% sell-on, so would receive half of any fee.

Gila, 25, joined Lazio from Real Madrid in summer 2022. After a slow start he has become one of Serie A’s standout centre-backs, and was named player of the match.
