Modric, who joined Real Madrid in 2012, has collected an enviable haul of silverware, including six Champions League titles, and remains one of the most elegant and intelligent midfielders in world football.

“We may not realize it, but the former Real Madrid captain has arrived, a guy with a suitcase full of titles,” he added.

With the Real Madrid midfielder keen to remain in Europe to stay sharp ahead of the 2026 World Cup, a switch to Serie A makes more sense than a move to MLS, which had previously been rumoured.

Modric’s desire to compete at the highest level, even at nearly 40, underlines his unmatched professionalism and hunger and it will be interesting to see how Real Madrid cope without their star midfielder from the 2025/26 season.
