AC Milan man explains why Juventus deserved their late goal | OneFootball

AC Milan defender Mario Gila admits it was fair for Juventus to earn a late leveller in their 1-1 draw last night, as the Bianconeri were in top form throughout the match.

The Bianconeri played very well, with both the starters and substitutes doing their best to ensure the team did not lose the game. However, it was AC Milan who took the first step towards victory by scoring the opening goal.

Milan did well and could have walked away with all the points, but Juve were eventually rewarded with a goal their performance deserved after they had missed several other chances during the match.

It was one of those games in which Milan had to defend very well because they were clearly under a lot of pressure from Juve, who threatened from the start to the finish.

The Bianconeri’s hard work did not pay off until added time, when they scored a late goal to secure a point in an important match.

Gila admits Juventus deserved goal

Gila acknowledged that Juventus deserved to find the net after the pressure they had applied throughout the contest. The Bianconeri had created several opportunities, and their persistence eventually resulted in the late equaliser.

Speaking via Tuttomercatoweb, Gila said:

“They deserved this goal, we weren’t 100% and we lost a lot of balls in the first half. We still managed to compete against a very strong team like Juventus, at the beginning of the season I was unable to finish the matches and I am very disappointed. We’re happy about the draw anyway.”

Milan settle for a draw

Gila’s comments highlight how difficult Milan found it to contain Juventus, particularly with the Bianconeri applying pressure for much of the match.

Although Milan took the lead and had an opportunity to secure all three points, Juventus continued to push and eventually found the equaliser in added time.

The result means both teams had to settle for a point, with Gila admitting that Juventus deserved their late goal. The Bianconeri’s performance ensured they avoided defeat after continuing to fight until the final stages of the match.
