It’s an objective that’s there. We all know Chivas has to be in first place and we want to make it to the Liguilla, but our one main objective is to win the championship, and that’s what we work for day by day. That’s the mentality the coach instills in us.

The coach has made it clear to us that there are no guaranteed starting spots, and that’s how he lets us know: whoever is doing well is going to play. That drives internal competition. No matter who is out there, the team keeps playing the same way, and it’s about getting into the work dynamic we know is very demanding.

We have a lot of possession and a lot of different options. The game plan they set for us always comes out the way they ask of us, we create a lot of chances, and we have to work on our finishing so that when your moment comes, you’re in good form and can make it happen.

I’m very happy with the start I’m having, and I owe it all to the team’s work. Back in the Liga de Expansión, it used to happen to me that after Matchday 6 I would start scoring goals. Now it’s been different and it started earlier, fortunately, and I know I have to make the most of it to keep performing. Honestly, I’m not doing anything different. I’ve always been hardworking, with a good attitude and willing to put in the work. I’m enjoying being at a club as big as Chivas.

There’s no team like Chivas and what it represents on the field. We know millions of Mexicans want to be in this place, so you have to work to keep it and always be ready whenever the head coach needs you.

We know it’s going to be a very difficult match because they look for ways to sit back, because of the kind of rivalry and what it means to them to play against Chivas. We have to go out and play with the same intensity we showed against San Luis. We’re going to have those chances and we have to take advantage of them. We hope to keep the team’s good run going.

These are important weeks when it comes to aiming for the top of the table, but we like to take it game by game, and right now we don’t want to think about América. Our mindset right now is on Pumas, and when the time comes, we’ll think about América. We know what that match represents for us and for the fans.

They are players of tremendous quality and I’m very proud of them. It has taken a lot for them to get to that place, and all of that comes from the work the coach puts us through and the mentality we have. On the field, the coach lets us make decisions that we believe are the best ones. Obviously, we have a clear structure, but we have great players who, no matter what position they’re in, always do a great job.

The national team is in the best hands it could be in. His career is something incredible and enviable, and we hope it will be a fruitful period for the national team and that it reaches the highest level.

It’s the best thing for him, and he deserves it for all the work he put in. He leaves a very high bar, and I also feel very proud. I got to see him when he had just arrived and was growing. The discipline he had is something you don’t see often. My utmost respect for the work he did, and in the end it is the reward he earned.
