It is no secret to anyone that the departure of Argentine midfielder Guido Rodríguez has left an important place in the América squad with a gaping hole.
Santiago Baños and Miguel Herrera are working hard to have his replacement as soon as possible. However, whoever comes in won’t come until after the season starts.
Flamengo’s Robert Piris da Motta has been heavily linked to an América switch but a big name out of Europe has recently emerged as a target.
Though he is close to turning 34, AC Milan’s Lucas Biglia is now reportedly on América’s radar.
The 58-time Argentina international has only featured seven times this season and would be available for a cut-rate price as his contract is set to expire in June.
Biglia has only made two appearances for Milan since the end of October, so there’s no doubt he’s ready to get back on the pitch.
However, he’s been hit with the injury bug this season, suffering from an adductor issue earlier in the season and is currently on the sidelines with a thigh problem.
