Víctor Dávila has ruptured his cruciate ligaments and will miss the rest of the year. According to Americayya.net, América could register a replacement even with the transfer window closed under Liga MX rules.
If all goes well, he could return early next year. It also remains to be seen whether that would be with América, as it would not be surprising if the club chose to let him go by then.
Liga MX regulations state that if a player suffers a serious injury that will take more than seven months to heal, clubs are permitted to replace him even after the window has shut. Registration must be completed before matchweek 14, and a Liga MX doctor must certify the injury so the club can deregister the player and add a replacement.
The simplest option is to sign a free agent, which would allow the deal to be completed immediately with no complications.
An international signing is also possible, but it would require FIFA approval because the move would be outside the window. The decision now rests with the hierarchy, whether to recruit or stay as they are.
