The Rossoneri return to home soil looking to build on their recent victory over Pisa. At the same time, the visitors arrive in Milan hoping to bounce back from their recent defeat to struggling Fiorentina, which has dented their European ambitions.
AC Milan will be without midfielder Adrien Rabiot, who is suspended following his red card in the 2-1 victory against Pisa in their last match.
There is positive news on the injury front, with both Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic showing signs of recovery as they were both introduced as substitutes in the match against Pisa.
German striker Niclas Fullkrug has been dealing with a fractured toe sustained against Fiorentina, though this has not prevented him from featuring in recent matches. The injury was immediately reduced by Milan’s medical staff in Florence.
Alexis Saelemaekers is now available after recovering from his adductor problem, giving Allegri additional options in the attacking areas. However, striker Santiago Gimenez remains sidelined following ankle surgery and is not expected to return until late February.
Como will be without former Milan striker Alvaro Morata, who is serving a suspension following his red card in the dying moments of their 2-1 home defeat to Fiorentina.
Anastasios Douvikas is expected to lead the line. The Greek striker has been in excellent form this season, scoring eight goals in 24 appearances.
Assamese Diao is sidelined until late February due to his muscle injury, while Edoardo Goldaniga is doubtful.
Milan comes into this fixture on an impressive unbeaten run that now stretches to 23 matches in Serie A, the longest current streak across Europe’s top five leagues. The Rossoneri sit second in Serie A with 53 points from 24 matches, eight points behind Inter but with a game in hand.
Most recently, Milan secured a hard-fought 2-1 away victory at Pisa on 13 February, with goals from Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Luka Modric.
Como’s impressive first half of the season has hit a stumbling block recently, with the Lariani dropping points that have seen them slip to seventh place in Serie A with 41 points from 24 matches.
They have won only two matches out of their last six league outings. Their most recent outing ended in a frustrating 2-1 home defeat to Fiorentina on 14 February.
