Algeria have recently changed managers, replacing Djamel Belamdi with Vladimir Petkovic and as the national team prepares for the future, they are looking at bi-nationals that can be integrated into the set-up. Yacine Adli (23) is a target, but according to L’Équipe, he has his heart set on the France national team.
Adli has enjoyed a breakthrough season at AC Milan. The former Paris Saint-Germain and Girondins de Bordeaux man was hardly utilised by Stefano Pioli in his first season at the San Siro, but moved into a defensive midfield role, he is now earning considerable game time and putting in a string of high-quality performances.
It is logical, therefore, that Algeria are looking to bring Adli into the national team set-up. However, L’Équipe understands that the midfielder, born in Vitry-sur-Seine to Algerian parents, has his heart set on receiving a call-up for Les Bleus. Adli has featured for Les Bleuets up to U20 level and is now hoping that his performances will catch the eye of Didier Deschamps.
