Corinthians’ Deliberative Council acting president Leonardo Pantelão has cancelled the members’ General Assembly on statute reform after a court injunction halted the 18 April session. The council said in a statement that the move was to ensure legal certainty and institutional stability.
The decision seeks to avoid uncertainty around the meeting and preserve the integrity of the deliberative process. The Executive Board has been instructed to publicise the cancellation through official channels and notices.
The assembly was already suspended on Monday when councillor Felipe Ezabella obtained an injunction granted by Judge Luis Fernando Nardelli of the third Civil Court of Regional Forum VIII, Tatuapé.
After that suspension, former council president Romeu Tuma Júnior requested leave and the vice-president, Leonardo Pantelão, assumed the post. The club the same day registered at a notary the minutes of the vote that had suspended Romeu weeks earlier.
With those minutes now registered, there is a possibility of judicially validating Romeu’s provisional removal on 23 March. If so, acts he took before requesting leave could be invalidated, including his order to cancel the assembly.
The council is set to meet on Wednesday 29 April to vote again on the draft statute after the earlier disruption.
