The Welsh outfit recovered from a rocky start to finish just seven points outside the play-off places last term, which led to real enthusiasm throughout their fanbase about what this season could potentially hold.

Alan Sheehan’s side have shown promise, with strong victories over Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday thus far, alongside an impressive EFL Cup run which recently saw them come from two goals back to beat Premier League club Nottingham Forest.

Swansea were denied a point by Birmingham City in their most recent outing due to a last-gasp winner courtesy of Lyndon Dykes, leaving them 10th in the Championship standings after six games.

The Swans attacked the summer window in ambitious style to give them the best platform to compete from this season, recruiting the likes of Manuel Benson, Ethan Galbraith and Cameron Burgess.

However, their highest profile capture was that of Adam Idah from Celtic.

The 24-year-old swapped Scotland for Wales in a deal that cost Swansea a reported £6 million. Coupled with that price tag, it has now been revealed the eye-watering salary Idah has been handed.

Idah scored 20 goals in all competitions for Celtic last term, after spending half of the campaign before that there on loan.

This forced Swansea into paying such a hefty fee for his services, coupled with a handsome wage package too.

According to journalist Alan Nixon via his Patreon channel, the Swans offered Idah a deal close to £40,000 per week in order for him to leave Celtic.

This is the biggest wage any player is on at the club and the largest they have offered out since their relegation from the Premier League in 2018.

The size of the contract helped convince the Irishman that his future lay in Wales and also highlights just how much Sheehan wanted him.

Idah came through the academy system at Norwich City, scoring 17 goals in 116 games for their first team after making his debut in 2019.

The forward picked up two league titles, the Scottish Cup and the Scottish League Cup whilst with Celtic and featured for the Bhoys in the Champions League.

Idah has proven during his time in Scotland that he is an extremely capable goal scorer and should be a constant threat for Swansea City throughout this season.

However, there is immediate pressure on the 24-year-old to perform due to how much money the Swans have paid for his services.

Minutes have been sporadic for Idah thus far as he continues to adapt to his new surroundings, but Swansea supporters will be eagerly awaiting his first start for their club.

The Irish striker will need to score goals from the off to prove he was worth the money, or questions could begin to surround why the Welsh outfit have paid quite so much for him.
