Midfielder may not be able to celebrate Conference League glory with his manager, though
Adam Wharton hailed Oliver Glasner as one of the greatest managers in Crystal Palace’s history after he led the club to Conference League glory in Leipzig - but revealed he may miss the celebrations.
Glasner is now responsible for all three of the major honours Palace have ever won, having clinched the FA Cup and Community Shield for the club last year before helping them win their maiden European campaign this season.
The final in Leipzig is his last match with the club, though, as he will depart as a free agent at the season’s culmination.
Speaking after beating Rayo Vallecano, Wharton gushed over Glasner’s influence.
“Last game as Palace manager, the difference he has made in two-and-a-half years is incredible,” the midfielder began.
“Three trophies for Crystal Palace, the first three in the history of the club, first European competition, winning it, unbelievable.
“(He is) probably one of the best managers Palace have ever had. He’s made a massive difference for how the club looks at competitions now.

“Just to be in Europe, we’re lucky to win it and be as high as possible.”
Wharton was not able to celebrate the milestone FA Cup victory with his team-mates after he went off with a head injury and was hospitalised for precautionary checks.
He continued, revealing he may miss out on the trophy celebrations in Leipzig, too, after being randomly selected for a doping test, but also committed to making up for lost time.
“Its gonna be big,” he said of Palace’s party plans. “I missed the FA Cup last year, so I have two celebrations to catch up on.
“I’ve got doping unfortunately, which ruins my party a bit, but hopefully I can get that over with quickly and get on the beers and alcohol.
“I’m going to definitely make up for it here, 100 per cent.”
He continued, reflecting on Palace’s achievement: “You can’t put the feeling into words, its incredible. You see what I mean, its south London, the fans. You can’t put it into words. Unbelievable.
“We knew they were gonna be tough to break down, they’re a very well-drilled team, they work hard, they’re intense, one of the most intense teams in La Liga.
“The start of the game, it was a bit cagey, as its always going to be for a final, but we grew into it and found where the spaces were and exploited them.
“I think we should have scored a few more goals, to be honest, put it to bed, made it easier for ourselves and our fans, but we got the job done and it was a great performance.”
