Adi Hütter admits Frankfurt avoided ‘absolute false start’ with Mainz victory | OneFootball

Adi Hütter believes Eintracht Frankfurt's victory over Mainz was particularly important, after admitting defeat would have represented an “absolute false start” to the season. 

Frankfurt picked up their first Bundesliga victory of the campaign on Saturday, easing some of the pressure following a difficult opening to the campaign. 

Boss Hütter acknowledged that pressure is part of life at Eintracht, with the returning Austrian insisting that there is little room for anyone to get comfortable. 

“You know that you’re constantly under pressure,” he told DAZN, speaking after the win. 

“You can never really rest on anything.

“The important thing is that we have now celebrated our first win of the season here in Mainz.”

The Frankfurt boss believes his players can sometimes add to that pressure themselves, but suggested it can also help drive performances.

“Maybe the players sometimes put themselves under additional pressure as well,” he added.

“But ultimately, if they always feel that pressure, then why not?

“Then they produce good performances, and at the end of the game they can enjoy themselves as well.”

Hütter nevertheless admitted that leaving Mainz without a victory would have been considerably more uncomfortable.

“If we had lost, it really would have been an absolute false start,” he said.

“The three points do us a lot of good today. The pressure would have been very high otherwise.”
