AS Monaco have chopped and changed between the sticks over the course of the past 14 months, and Adi Hütter has admitted that he isn’t “100% happy” with the current goalkeeping situation at the club.

Philipp Köhn arrived in the summer of 2023, however, failed to convince in his opening months at Monaco to the extent that CEO Thiago Scuro admitted that the Swiss goalkeeper “brought doubts”, leading to a change. It was Radoslaw Majecki who replaced Köhn, and he was impressive in the final sprint, seeing him replace Köhn as the undisputed No.1.

However, that No.1 status has once again been disputed. Majecki started the season as the No.1, however, he missed the start of the campaign through injury and has failed to replicate last season’s form ever since. An error in the dying moments against Toulouse FC earlier this month led to another change in goal with Köhn coming back in. The Swiss shotstopper may remain in goal until the end of the season.

“We’ll see if Philipp remains in goal for the rest of the season,” began Hütter in a press conference attended by Get French Football News. “He could also get injured so you don’t know. In any case, he will start against OGC Nice (on Saturday). We decided to change and he had a clean sheet against Angers and so we hope he can continue.”

He continued, “It is special as a coach to have to take this decision. It is important to emphasise that we win together and lose together. No individual is responsible for the results.”

Just days earlier, in an interview with L’Équipe, the Monaco manager said, “Maybe Philipp will be able to do what Radek did at the end of last season to help us reach our objectives. You can imagine that we aren’t 100% happy with the situation.”
