Adil Bourabaa handed first Algeria call-up, replaces Nabil Bentaleb | OneFootball

Le Mans midfielder Adil Bourabaa has earned a first Algeria call-up from new head coach Brahim Hemdani, stepping in for Lille’s Nabil Bentaleb. The Algerian federation announced the decision.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed a standout start in Ligue 1, scoring three goals and providing two assists for Le Mans.

Not initially selected, like Houssem Aouar, Bourabaa comes in after Bentaleb featured for nearly 80 minutes in Lille’s 1-2 defeat at Nice on Sunday, matchday five, before going off injured and being replaced by Ngal’ayel Mukau in the 77th minute.

This is Bourabaa’s first senior selection with the Fennecs.

Algeria begin their 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign against Zambia on Friday at 21:00 in Tizi-Ouzou, then face Burundi on Tuesday 29 September at 15:00.
