TS Galaxy head coach Adnan Beganovic has set sights on lifting the Nedbank Cup trophy ahead of their Round of 16 clash against Mamelodi Sundowns at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium on Saturday.

The Rockets won the tournament as a second-tier club at the expense of Kaizer Chiefs in 2019, thanks to a solitary late goal from ex-Orlando Pirates striker Zakhele Lepasa from the spot.

Now, Beganovic has opened up on his working relationship with club Chairman Tim Sukazi, and communication on adding another major trophy to the cabinet.

“I can say that I am so lucky because my communication and relationship with the chairman is on the top level. Tim Sukazi, first of all, understands football, his previous job was being an agent and he understands exactly and can recognize good talent, especially young talent,” he said.

"Our communication on that part [winning a trophy] is perfect and also when we have the opportunity to fight for something like the Nedbank Cup, because TS Galaxy won this cup in 2019 and you know that feeling to have the cup in the office.

"And also, to play CAF competitions is a challenge for TS Galaxy. But a cup game is not [like] a league game, it's one game you are out [or] you are in, that's it, you don't have another chance.

On facing Sundowns, the Bosnian mentor welcomed the draw and made it clear his ambition is to win the Nedbank Cup, among other trophies on offer.

“In the draw if you have a little bit of luck to get some equal team or from the second division, you have a better chance to cross to the next round. But sometimes you can't choose, we have what we have, we got Mamelodi Sundowns and then that's it,” Beganovic added.

"There's no point, against any team, to say okay that's it, we give up, we don't want to play, we want to lose the game - it's not in my nature, it's not in the nature of the club. I have more wishes to do something in the Nedbank Cup, even in the other cups, even in the league.

"I want to push myself more, I put my goals high and then work to my goals. And also, I want to push my players to put those goals higher and if we reach the goals it's okay, but we can't just stay in one place and dream about something.

"We need to work, we need to push. I can't say and be 100% sure we can win the cup but we will do everything we can to try to cross to the next round and the next game can also be new opportunity like this game [against Sundowns] but we will fight 100%, we will give everything to try to cross to the next round.
