Santos may face fresh transfer bans over unpaid fees for the signings of centre-backs Adonis Frías and Alexis Duarte, after León and Spartak Moscow took the cases to Fifa.

According to Globo.com, Duarte remains at Santos with a serious right-knee injury and will not play again this season. He is contracted until June 2029.

Frías joined Santos in a US$ 4 million deal in three instalments, and León say the second US$ 1 million due in January was missed. León went to Fifa for 15% interest and a 15% penalty of US$ 150,000, and Fifa cut the rate to 12% at Santos’s request and ordered US$ 25,000 in costs.

Duarte’s fee was US$ 4 million, reduced to US$ 3.8 million via Fifa’s solidarity contribution. Santos missed the first instalment, US$ 950,000, in September last year after an extension to 29 September lapsed. Spartak then claimed the full US$ 1 million, a 3% penalty and 15% interest, later also notifying for the second instalment due in February before going to Fifa in June.

Santos acknowledged the debts and argued payments were delayed by factors beyond their control, linked to funds expected from another transfer. Fifa has ordered US$ 2 million outstanding to be paid to Spartak, with 15% interest on US$ 1 million from 11 September 2025 and on a further US$ 1 million from 21 January 2026 until settlement. The club must also pay a US$ 60,000 contractual penalty and US$ 25,000 in costs.
