Adrián Esteve to take charge of Basconia | OneFootball

Athletic have finalised the coaching structure for their male academy teams for 26/27, with Basconia to be led by Adrián Esteve. According to El Correo, the reshuffle is the headline change at Lezama.

The move reflects the progression of a coach who has impressed in the club’s development pathway. Esteve arrived at Lezama in July 2022 and has overseen Juvenil A for the past two seasons, winning the División de Honor Nacional group in consecutive campaigns.

His earlier work in the youth systems at Villarreal CF and Levante UD, including a stint in charge of Atlético Levante in Segunda RFEF, underlines his credentials in nurturing talent approaching the professional level. A close collaboration with Bittor Llopis in last season’s Youth League ensures alignment for the flow of players between both structures.

Xabi Etxeita takes on coordination of the top two tiers, Bilbao Athletic and Basconia, acting as a key bridge between technical development and first-team demands.

Andima Undabeitia will oversee 11-a-side football, while Rafa Arteagabeitia continues to supervise the Fútbol 7 categories.

Elsewhere in the academy, the other change sees Diaz de Cerio move up from Infantil A to Cadete División de Honor, previously led by Ander Murillo.
