Since arriving from Marseille in September, Adrien Rabiot has energised AC Milan on and off the pitch, with Sassuolo visiting on Sunday at 12.15.
L'Équipe notes that Milan average 2.71 points per Serie A match when Rabiot plays, a pace that could deliver the Scudetto. Without him, the rate drops to 1.71, a cadence that would not even guarantee Champions League qualification.
The Frenchman marked his first Milan goal on Monday in the 3-2 win over Torino, pulling one back after they had trailed 2-0. He described it as a fine strike that helped the team.
His 29 metres effort was Milan’s first from that range in almost 10 years. It underlined the value of shooting from distance against teams who sit deep.
Team-mates speak of a constant presence, good positions and choices, and rare turnovers. His influence is felt even when he is not doing anything spectacular.
After fluctuating at Juventus between 2019-2024, he appears more consistent, aided by work under Roberto De Zerbi at Marseille that targeted 10-15 goals, he scored 10 in all competitions. Staff at Milanello are impressed by his physical output and running data.
He is viewed as an exemplary professional with strength, technique and quality, and has spoken of a strong bond with Massimiliano Allegri, whom he describes as very positive and calming. Inside the dressing room his leadership is striking and could be important for Christopher Nkunku, who is still expected to offer more since his arrival.
