Adu Ares yet to kick on despite flashes at Riazor | OneFootball

Adu Ares earned another start at Riazor after rescuing a point in the first meeting, but his display again reflected a stop-start season blighted by inconsistency and knocks.

As reported by as.com, Beñat San José used a 5-3-2 with Ares alongside Martón. Martón led the line while Ares roamed, mainly down the right, carrying threat but lacking accuracy with crosses and finishes.

Chasing the game, Eibar grew and the Lezama graduate carved two clear chances. One hit the woodwork and the other was hindered by poor footing, both runs unsettling Riazor.

San José then sent on Mada and Guruzeta in advanced roles, and Ares was withdrawn just as he seemed to be improving.

It was not his brightest outing, yet he still showed a winger comfortable on either flank and decisive when he drives into the box. He has played a little over 750 minutes across 16 league and cup games, and his only goal came against Deportivo.

A knee operation and a domestic accident, plus the form of Corpas, Mada and Guruzeta, have limited his continuity. He has missed two months and mostly appeared after the interval. With more than four years left on his deal, the club believe his best form could arrive sooner rather than later. The signs are there, but he still needs to prove it.
