In a recent post on X, journalist Nicolo Schira claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are close to recruiting Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo. It has been mentioned that Spurs have already agreed on personal terms with the Dutch wide player and are hoping to get a deal done for him in this summer transfer window.
Gakpo endured an inconsistent campaign at the Merseyside club recently, but managed to prove his worth at times for them in the Premier League. The 27-year-old scored nine times and earned six assists in 52 matches for the Reds last season on all fronts.
The Dutch talent is currently among the most talented wide players in the Premier League. Hence, it is no wonder that Spurs are trying to get him on board this month.
His current contract at Anfield will expire in the summer of 2030, which could make it difficult for Tottenham to land him on the cheap in this transfer period.

Gakpo is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with it out in the wide areas. He has the vision to engineer some decent chances for his teammates to find the back of the net and can strike the ball with venom from long range.
The Dutch talent can chip in by scoring and creating a handful of important goals for his team. Gakpo is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also operate as a centre-forward if asked to do so. He is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the North London club.
We can expect Gakpo to add more firepower to Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi’s attack. He is good enough to compete for a regular first-team spot at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season.
At 27, Gakpo has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a worthy target for the London giants to pursue this summer. He will also help Spurs get back to challenging for a European place in the Premier League over the next few years. Thus, De Zerbi should focus on going all out to get Gakpo on board soon.
