AFC Bournemouth's Alex Scott has been called up to Thomas Tuchel’s England squad after an impressive start to the season.
Bournemouth Echo reports that the midfielder travelled with the team to the USA as part of a preparation group and is yet to make his debut.
His first senior call-up came last November, but he did not play against Serbia or Albania. He was then left out for the March internationals despite Bournemouth’s unbeaten run late last season.
Tuchel praised the 23-year-old’s attitude and application, rewarding him with involvement in the pre-tournament group, though he missed the final cut.
Scott has begun this campaign superbly, standing out in Marco Rose’s Bournemouth side. He was instrumental in last night’s opening Europa League win, supplying a sublime cross for Rayan to head the second goal.
He is now in the squad for four Nations League fixtures across an extended September and October break, the first since England finished third at the World Cup. England host Spain on Saturday, September 26, then visit the Czech Republic on Tuesday, September 29. They travel to Croatia on October 3 before returning home to face the Czech Republic on Tuesday, October 6.
