The club informed supporters there would be a minute’s applause before kick-off to honour Devaney, describing the Wednesfield man as devoted to football and his community, and saying he would be deeply missed.

Devaney was well known locally and is believed to have been a staff member at Wolverhampton University.

Earlier in the month, a man in his 60s died at the scene following a collision on a major city road. He was the pedestrian and could not be saved despite emergency efforts. Floral tributes were left nearby in the days that followed.
