Three Senegalese players were unable to take part in the AFCON 2025 final against Morocco on Sunday night. Krépin Diatta, usually the first choice at right-back, was sidelined after falling ill. Ousseynou Niang suffered a malaise during the warm-up. And finally, Pape Matar Sarr felt unwell and couldn't even make it to the bench after halftime. All three had to be taken to Mohammed VI University Hospital in Rabat.

According to Senegalese outlet Taggat, Ousseynou Niang managed to return to the team hotel during the night, while Diatta and Matar Sarr spent the night at the hospital. Their condition is reported as stable, and they will be able to rejoin their teammates to celebrate the title clinched on Sunday. "A lot happened before the match. I think a lot will come out afterward... It wasn't just this situation. Plenty of things also happened before the match. But you'll find out. A lot happened to Krépin, Ousseynou, and Pape Matar Sarr at halftime," revealed Ismaïl Jakobs after the final.
