In around an hour, FC Bayern will host VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga. We bring you the starting line-ups for the game.
After the bitter 1:1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain and the resulting Champions League exit, Munich’s focus is back on everyday league action. Vincent Kompany makes seven changes to his starting eleven compared to the semi-final second leg against PSG.
For FC Bayern, the aim in Wolfsburg is to regain stability after their dream of winning the treble fell through. The championship has long since been decided, but Kompany does not want to completely break his team’s rhythm with a view to the cup final against VfB Stuttgart. The Belgian will still have to do without Serge Gnabry and Alphonso Davies is also not in the squad.
Jonas Urbig will start in goal in place of Manuel Neuer, with Josip Stanisic, Minjae Kim, Hiroki Ito and Tom Bischof forming the back four. This means that several players from the second tier will get their chance, with Dayot Upamecano, Jonathan Tah and Konrad Laimer initially sitting on the bench.
Bayern will rely on Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka in central midfield, with Aleksandar Pavlovic dropping out of the starting line-up after the intense Champions League clash against PSG. Goretzka, together with Kimmich, will provide structure and presence in the center.
Kompany has opted for a new attacking option, with Michael Olise starting on the right and Jamal Musiala in the center. Nicolas Jackson moves into the starting eleven and is likely to start on the left. Harry Kane is back in the center of attack, with Luis Díaz initially on the bench and Lennart Karl also left out.
Compared to the bitter Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, Neuer, Davies, Upamecano, Tah, Laimer, Pavlovic and Luis Díaz are rotated out of the starting XI, with Urbig, Minjae, Ito, Bischof, Goretzka, Jackson and Stanisic moving into the starting line-up.
