After Cvancara, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi could be next in at Celtic

Celtic have emerged as one of the clubs exploring a possible move for Crystal Palace wide man Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, according to fresh reports…

The 23-year-old recently returned to Selhurst Park after his loan spell with Turkish outfit Caykur Rizespor was cut short, placing him back on the market ahead of the January window’s closing stages.

Palace are understood to be open to letting the player depart, either on a temporary basis with a future purchase clause or via a permanent transfer.

Sky Sports reports that the London club are assessing interest in the attacker, who is capable of operating across the front line but is most comfortable on the right flank.

Celtic are not alone in their pursuit, with Stoke City also credited with holding discussions over a potential deal, while several other English Championship sides have monitored his situation.

The player’s future has been described as uncertain, with previous approaches from clubs such as Swansea City failing to progress due to contractual disagreements.

The latest Ibrox club were also linked with Rak-Sakyi during last summer’s window, although no agreement was reached at that time.

Rak-Sakyi found the net four times and supplied one assist in 13 appearances during his time in Turkey.

Earlier in his career, he impressed at Charlton Athletic, registering 15 goals and eight assists in 49 matches, before adding further experience at Sheffield United, where he contributed seven goals and two assists across 36 outings.

Meanwhile, Celtic will need to pay Borussia Monchengladbach £7m should they decide to make Tomas Cvancara’s move permanent.

Manager Martin O’Neill revealed last night that the striker had begun medical checks ahead of a proposed loan arrival from the Bundesliga outfit.

The agreement is expected to include a clause allowing the Scottish champions the opportunity to secure the 25-year-old on a permanent transfer once the loan deal concludes.

German outlet Kicker has suggested that activating that option would require a fee in the region of £7 million, should Celtic choose to complete the signing at the end of the season.
