After Fla-Flu stunner, Wesley Natã on Fred celebration: “I made his move”

Fluminense beat Flamengo 3-1 last weekend in the Rio de Janeiro Under-20 Championship. Under Fred’s command, the Xerém boys moved to the top of the table and remain unbeaten. But the moment that stood out most in the match was the big hug between the coach and Wesley Natã. The Tricolor striker scored a stunning goal to seal the away win.

“The secret is the day-to-day work. We’re always at a very high level of preparation. I made the play Fred asks for, to be direct and go toward goal. When we get into attack, he gives us a lot of freedom, and I’m very happy. That’s why he hugged me,” said Wesley Natã.

The next match will pit the best attack against the stingiest defense in the state championship. While their opponent has conceded only five goals, Flu has scored 22. The only unbeaten team, they also ended Botafogo’s unbeaten run with a 3-0 win in Xerém, as well as beating Flamengo itself.

“It was a beautiful goal, and it’s very important to score in derbies. I hope to score more and keep going strong in the championship. We have to keep doing what we’ve been training. It won’t be an easy match against Vasco, but we’ve been working hard during the week to keep this good run going,” the striker concluded.
