Vasco have sealed their first two window signings, Facundo Colidio and Santiago Sosa, and are pressing on for further additions.
According to Globo.com, Colidio is already in Rio de Janeiro and a pre-agreement has been announced, while Sosa is expected in the early hours of Monday.
Vasco want a goalscorer irrespective of role. Colidio can play second striker, wide or central, and offers a more mobile alternative to Brenner through the middle.
Several attacking shapes are under discussion, pairing Colidio or Brenner as the reference with Andrés Gómez and, potentially, a new finisher.
Deossa remains the only advanced deal. Betis accepted Vasco's offer, but Manuel Pellegrini has used the Colombian in pre-season and optimism has cooled, even after a goal against Arsenal.
Jhon Córdoba of Krasnodar, admired by Felipe and Admar Lopes, topped the centre-forward list, but the Russian club wanted around 8 million euros upfront.
On the wings, Vasco have bid for Ecuador winger Yeboah, who prefers to stay in Europe. Brian Rodríguez also appeals, though Club América are unlikely to ease talks and any fee would exceed 10 million dollars.
Despite Cuesta's uptick, defence is monitored. Diego Carlos is a key target but has a high salary and is under contract at Fenerbahçe. A termination there could ease any move.
Gabriel Pereira is targeted, but Copenhagen want a high fee for the centre-back. With Sosa and Colidio taking the foreign quota to 10, and Cuesta and Saldivia non-Brazilian, a Brazilian is prioritised. The window shuts on 11 September.
