Agent comments on Wandile Duba transfer rumors: Were they all lies?
The future of Kaizer Chiefs' young attacker, Wandile Duba, became a topic of speculation in the recent transfer window, with his agent, Mike Makaab, now addressing the whispers. Makaab confirmed that the source of this interest originated from clubs in Saudi Arabia. However, he clarified that while the interest was genuine, a transfer ultimately failed to materialize, leaving the player at his current club.
Duba's journey to the Chiefs first team began in their DStv Diski Challenge side, earning his promotion to the senior team in January 2023. The Lenasia-born striker has since been on a steady upward trajectory, known for his pace and a knack for scoring crucial goals when given the opportunity. His contributions were particularly vital in the previous campaign, playing a key role in helping Amakhosi secure the Nedbank Cup, a victory that ended the club's long wait for a major trophy.
The current 2025/26 season, however, has presented a different challenge for the promising talent. Finding himself in a competitive environment, Duba is vying for a starting position against a group of experienced attackers that includes Khanyisa Mayo, Etiosa Ighodaro, Flavio Silva, and Ashley Du Preez. This increased competition has resulted in a slower start for the youngster, who has yet to find the back of the net in his eight appearances so far.
With the transfer speculation now put to rest, the focus for Wandile Duba remains on turning his fortunes around at Naturena. The objective is clear: to start scoring goals and help the Glamour Boys in their pursuit of major silverware.
