The agent of Juventus midfielder Arthur has revealed that there have been discussions with Ligue 1 side Marseille and that there was nothing concrete in the links with former Serie A champions Napoli.
Arthur stayed at Juve in the summer but he remains out of the club’s project, despite the late links with the Partenopei that never really took off. He was also linked with a return to Fiorentina but that too never really materialised.
His agent Federico Pastorello has now spoken to TMW about his client’s future, revealing that there have been talks with Marseille and Roberto de Zerbi could be keen on signing the player in the January transfer window.
“There have been some discussions, he is the type of player that could interest De Zerbi. Let’s see, there was a problem with non-EU players and it wasn’t very simple, we’ll see in January.”
On the links with Napoli late in the summer transfer window, Pastorello said: “They never asked me honestly. We have to find a solution, it’s a mortal shame to see a player of his quality not used.
“Unfortunately he is not part of Juventus’ plans again, even though in my opinion he could have given something different also in light of the new game system. We accept and respect the decision made by the club but in January we will find a new arrangement”.
The likelihood is that Arthur won’t play for Juve this season and will leave the club in January. He did well for Fiorentina last season and he returned to the club after that, having faced injury issues in his time at Liverpool in the Premier League.
