Sunderland are among the clubs showing serious interest in Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara this month, according to reports in Türkiye.

Those reports say the Brazilian’s agent is due to meet club officials this week, with Sunderland and Fulham among the clubs tracking his situation.

Sara, 26, made his name at Norwich City after joining from São Paulo in 2022 for around £six million plus add-ons. He was Norwich’s Player of the Season in 2023 and made the Championship Team of the Season the following year, having also been Player of the Month in August 2023.

Galatasaray signed him on a five-year deal in August 2024. He has featured regularly in the Süper Lig and scored away to fierce rivals Fenerbahçe in the Intercontinental Derby. Technically strong and comfortable in possession, he can contribute goals and assists from midfield, a profile that would suit Régis Le Bris.

Any move would be complex, given his long contract and Galatasaray’s stance on key players. An agent meeting could concern contract matters or future planning rather than an imminent exit. For now, it looks one to monitor as Sunderland assess midfield options in January with value, timing and long-term fit in mind.
