„Agreement practically reached“: Bayern star faces lightning farewell

Joao Palhinha was never happy at FC Bayern, but recent media reports suggest he could now find happiness in his homeland

After just two years at the club, one of which he spent at Tottenham Hotspur, Joao Palhinha’s time at FC Bayern could now come to a relatively sudden end. If the German record champions prove willing to negotiate, the Portuguese could soon join a new club

Apparently, Palhinha could be moving to his native Portugal this summer. As the sports newspaper A Bola reports, the 30-year-old has decided to start his next chapter at Sporting Lisbon. An agreement has therefore „practically been reached“

Nevertheless, the transfer is not yet a done deal, as the transfer fee negotiations with FCB are still pending. It is not known exactly how much Munich want for Palhinha

Transfermarkt puts Palhinha’s market value at 18 million euros. Spurs had an option to buy him for 30 million euros. The final transfer fee for him is therefore likely to be somewhere in between

Will Palhinha be loaned out?

However, if Sporting are unable to sign the defensive midfielder on a permanent deal, a loan would apparently also be an option. According to the report in A Bola , a loan deal including a purchase option would also be conceivable for the Portuguese top club

The extent to which Bayern bosses would agree to another loan is questionable. Given the sporting direction of coach Vincent Kompany, Munich would probably prefer a permanent departure, as Palhinha no longer plays a role in Kompany’s plans

Despite the departures of Leon Goretzka and Raphael Guerreiro, who can both play in similar positions, there is no need for the Portuguese World Cup winner in midfield from Bayern’s point of view.
