Javier Aguirre is well placed to become Valencia's next head coach, though the club has yet to make a final decision. According to AS, he is a leading option as discussions continue.
He has cleared the first stage of the club's selection process and, after reviewing the squad, has given his approval to take charge. He and his camp are keen on a return to LaLiga.
Sporting director Braulio Vázquez is not rushing the call. Óscar Sánchez will take the bench on Sunday against Real Sociedad while the evaluation continues after an extensive search.
If nothing unusual occurs, Valencia intend to announce their new head coach next week so the appointee can use the international break to get to grips with the project.
At this stage Aguirre appears to hold the edge, while Vázquez has not yet concluded the process.
