He was injured during the 3-0 win over Barcelona of Ecuador in Boca’s second Copa Libertadores group game. The player said in a social media post that the news was hard to digest, pairing frustration with a strong sense of belonging.

The medical staff later confirmed the serious setback, which will keep the experienced goalkeeper out for the rest of the year.

He reflected on a childhood in San Cayetano and a lifetime dream to play the Libertadores for Boca, which he felt close to fulfilling.
