Aimar Blázquez, a dream debut in tears for Valencia forward | OneFootball

Aimar Blázquez, born in 2006 in Madrid, became Valencia’s latest academy graduate to reach the first team with a late debut against Real Sociedad. Introduced by Óscar Sánchez, he was heavily involved in the second goal, ultimately recorded as a Beitia own goal. At 194 centimetres, he brings a different profile at centre-forward.

According to AS, Aimar joined the Valencia academy in 2021 after spells with Real Madrid, Rayo Vallecano and Villarreal. He topped Group 7 of the División de Honor Juvenil with 22 goals in 19 games, earning a contract extension.

His following season was just as prolific, 31 in 31, and he was central to a Copa de Campeones runners-up finish. José Jiménez, the academy’s scouting coordinator, recognised his potential early and backed him.

Coach Óscar Sánchez, who led the reserves and acted as interim for two matches, never wavered in that belief and handed him his chance. After the goal he sprinted to the bench to embrace Sánchez, and at full-time he wept with family watching from the stands.

In 2022, Valencia declined an approach concerning Carlos Espí from Alzira, as the club already had Aimar Blázquez in that role with similar attributes. Javier Aguirre will take charge at Valencia and is aware of the promise of Otorbi, Mayol and Aimar.

The Mexican coach will be without Sadiq until November and has only Hugo Duro as a reference striker. Blázquez’s deal runs to 30 June 2027, with an option for at least two more seasons.
