Ajax hoping to sign Santos teenager as their new right-back

According to De Telegraaf, Ajax are looking to sign JP Chermont from Santos. The 19-year-old has been earmarked by those at Ajax to become the new right-back at the club. With a contract running until 2027, Ajax will have to part with some cash in order to sign the highly rated Brazilian U20 international. With former Arsenal man Takehiro Tomiyasu having been signed to fill the left-back position, the club have turned their attention this January to finding players for the opposite flank.

Chermont has certainly made a name for himself as a teenager. Last year the defender played 36 games for Santos, scoring twice and providing four assists. In 2025 he played 14 games, with one assist. Chermont wasn’t a regular starter for Santos last season, spending time on the bench and sometimes not making a single appearance. Clearly Ajax see him as a player for the future, as well as one that can contribute to the side straight away. It is not clear how much Ajax will have to pay to secure the services of the Brazilian youngster.
