Ajax have reached a verbal agreement with John Heitinga and Marcel Keizer, sources confirm to Voetbal International. The duo will succeed Francesco Farioli in Amsterdam.
Ajax has not yet confirmed the appointment of Heitinga and Keizer via the club channels, but it is believed this will happen soon. Both will reportedly sign for two seasons at the Johan Cruyff Arena. The official presentation will take place at a later date.
Heitinga and Keizer had already worked together at Jong Ajax. After that, Heitinga was an interim coach of the first team of Ajax for 22 matches.
After the arrival of Sven Mislintat, he had to leave. Keizer has also had a period as head coach of the first team. He was fired after 24 matches in 2017 and eventually replaced by Erik ten Hag.
