Brest beat Metz 1-0 at Stade Saint-Symphorien to rise from 11th to ninth in Ligue 1, with Ludovic Ajorque's second half winner arriving after the visitors had been reduced to ten men.

Kamory Doumbia then hit the bar (37.) as the visitors still carried a threat.

Brendan Chardonnet nodded a pass into the box and Ludovic Ajorque finished from close range to decide the game (69.).

Metz dominated, posting 24 attempts and 12 corners with 65.6% of the ball. Gregorie Coudert made six saves and Brest registered 43 clearances to protect the lead.

Benoit Tavenot introduced Giorgi Kvilitais, Nathan Mbala and Lucas Michal, but Habib Diallo could not convert as the pressure mounted.

Georgii Tsitaishvili went close in the sixth minute of second half stoppage time, slicing wide from the right.

Metz visit Lens next. Brest host Le Havre next.
