Akliouche in, Ansu Fati left out: which Monaco players made the 2026 World Cup | OneFootball

Six Monaco players have been called for the 2026 World Cup in Canada, the United States and Mexico, according to Nice-Matin. Others miss out through form, selection or injury.

There are no surprises among those selected. Akliouche has been named by Didier Deschamps. In the France squad since September 2025 after debuting on five September 2025 against Ukraine, this will be his first senior tournament.

Senegal take two Monaco regulars, Krépin Diatta and Lamine Camara, runners-up at the last AFCON after a controversial decision against Morocco. Denis Zakaria is in with Switzerland, while Simon Adingra represents Ivory Coast. Zakaria, 29, has 63 caps and Adingra, 24, has 28.

The most recent call-up is Folarin Balogun, set to play on home soil. He has 19 goals in all competitions this season and will be with the United States, coached by Mauricio Pochettino, formerly of PSG.

An early-season notion of a France return for Paul Pogba faded. Out of shape, the 91-cap midfielder managed only six appearances totalling 115 minutes. Ansu Fati, despite 11 Ligue 1 goals, also misses out for Spain after persistent setbacks since his 2020 meniscus tear against Betis.

Injuries also denied places to Takumi Minamino, who suffered a left ACL injury in December. The 31-year-old has 73 caps and 26 goals for Japan. Mohamed Salisu sustained a left ACL rupture against Lyon in January.

Elsewhere, Denmark with Mika Biereth did not qualify and Russia with Aleksandr Golovin remain barred. Thilo Kehrer, Wout Faes, Eric Dier, Jordan Teze, Caio Henrique and Vanderson were not selected.
