Al-Ettifaq have filed an official complaint with the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property, challenging Al-Ittihad’s registration of the "ITTI" trademark.

Arriyadiyah reports that Al-Ettifaq argue they have used "ITTI" for years and that it is tied to their fan identity, with evidence spanning chants, products and media material.

The club fear the registration could restrict their future use of "ITTI" on products and across commercial and media activities, prompting an official move to protect related rights.

The submission includes documents and materials dating back several years, seeking to demonstrate prior use and the name’s close association with the club and its supporters.

Al-Ettifaq are awaiting the authority’s decision once it has studied the documents and evidence filed in support of their case.

Al-Ittihad launched the "ITTI" trademark last July as part of a strategy to develop the brand and boost its presence, using it to diversify revenue and drive commercial and investment growth.

The complaint forms part of Al-Ettifaq’s efforts to safeguard rights linked to the name pending the outcome of formal procedures.
