Al Hilal interest in Pavlidis has cooled after Benfica set a steep price, according to Glorioso 1904.
The Saudi club made only an exploratory approach to understand the terms of a potential deal, the report said.
Benfica were firm that only a proposal around €70m would be entertained, a figure the Saudi club are not prepared to reach, so talks have not advanced.
Pavlidis is central to José Mourinho’s plans, and is the fourth most used player in the squad with 2,899 minutes. Only Nicolás Otamendi on 3,060, Samuel Dahl on 3,067 and Fredrik Aursnes on 3,150 have more.
The 27-year-old’s form has been recognised, winning the league’s player of the month award for December.
This season he has 36 appearances for Benfica, 19 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 11 in the Champions League, three in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. He has 26 goals and three assists. He is valued at €35m.
