Al Ittihad complete surprise move for South African star Lorch in winter window
Libyan club Al Ittihad have officially signed South African forward Thembinkosi Lorch from Wydad Casablanca during the winter transfer window.
Al Ittihad SC of Libya have confirmed the signing of Thembinkosi Lorch completing new deal for the South African attacker as part of their winter transfer plans.
The Tripoli based club who finished third in the Libyan league at the end of the 2024 /25 season are aiming to return to the top after several years away from major trophies and African competitions.
The club announced the transfer through its official social media platforms confirming that Lorch has joined on contract running until June 2028.
Lorch 32 arrives from Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca where he impressed during his time in the Botola Pro League.
Al Ittihad described the signing as completed and official deal, with the contract ceremony taking place in the presence of club officials.
The move comes after months of interest with reports suggesting Wydad received attractive offer for the former Orlando Pirates & Mamelodi Sundowns player.
During his spell with Wydad Lorch played 28 match scoring eight goal and providing four assist becoming one of the club’s standout performers.
He also featured at the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States where he delivered strong performances.
After signing Lorch expressed his happiness at joining Al Ittihad. He said he is fully prepared and excited to make impact with his new team hoping to give supporters something to celebrate.
