Al-Nassr ‘could lose’ players for free amid financial crisis | OneFootball

Al-Nassr face the prospect of players leaving for nothing ahead of the 2026-2027 season after the Saudi Professional League’s financial control committee rejected the registration of Abdulrahman Ghareeb’s renewed deal, Asharq Al-Awsat reports.

The winger agreed a new contract two months ago, his previous deal having been due to expire at the end of last season, but the club have not activated it because of financial restrictions imposed on them.

A fresh request to register Ghareeb was filed after clearance to sign Portuguese midfielder Samu Costa from Real Mallorca, their only summer addition following Marcelo Brozovic’s exit, but it was rejected again.

Ghareeb could leave for free if his contract is not registered before the window closes. He had interest from Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad last winter, then chose to renew with Al-Nassr.

At 29, he was among Al-Nassr’s standouts in the last edition of the AFC Champions League 2, helping them reach the final before a one-goal defeat to Japan’s Gamba Osaka.

Goalkeeper Raghad Al-Najjar is in a similar bind, having also renewed without registration to date.
