Chief executive James Bisgrove said the club completed a global search and is delighted to bring Rodgers to Al Khobar. He called it a landmark moment that matches their ambition and long-term plan to establish Al Qadsiah among Asia’s leading clubs.

Sporting director Carlos Anton said Rodgers’ pedigree and playing philosophy suit their football strategy. He added that Rodgers inherits a talented, committed squad and will work closely with performance, medical, recruitment and analysis teams to drive the next phase.

The Northern Irishman, 52, arrives with extensive experience at Liverpool, Celtic and Leicester City. His two spells at Celtic delivered 11 major trophies, including four Scottish top-flight titles.

With Leicester, he won the club’s first FA Cup in 2021 and secured two fifth-place Premier League finishes. He previously spent three years in charge of Liverpool from 2012, leading them to second place in the 2013-14 Premier League.
