Rennes beat Brest 3-1 at Roazhon Park to rise from sixth to fifth in Ligue 1, ending the visitors' three-match winning run.

In the 13th minute Mama Baldé put Brest ahead from Kamory Doumbia's pass. Estéban Lepaul levelled (24.) from Mousa Al-Taamari's pass, and moments later Al-Taamari put Rennes in front (25.).

An injury forced Rennes to replace Przemysław Frankowski with Quentin Merlin (51.).

Brice Samba denied Kamory Doumbia's header (71.) and tipped away Soumaila Coulibaly's effort (82.) as Brest pressed for an equaliser.

Merlin then crossed for Mohamed Meïté to seal the result (87.).

Lepaul is now on nine league goals, joint second in the Ligue 1 scoring chart.

Rennes controlled 60.7% possession. Brice Samba made six saves.

Brest remain 11th. Next, Rennes host Les Sables in the Coupe de France. Brest visit Avranches in the Coupe de France.
