Alan Lescano, 24, arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Friday morning to undergo medical checks with Vasco. He travelled to take tests and sign a contract, though he stressed he is not yet a Vasco player.
According to Globo.com, the negotiation is valued at around US$ 7 million, about R$ 36 million.
Lescano said he was very happy to be in the city and at the club, but that some formalities remain. He expects to complete his medicals and hopes everything goes well so he can contribute.
In a brief exchange at the airport, he described himself as a creative midfielder who enjoys setting up play. Known in Argentina as Pipa, he was top of Vasco’s scouting list and became emotional after Argentinos Juniors’ game on Sunday night as supporters urged him to stay.
Inside the club he is viewed as a potential starter with significant upside. The Argentine can play as a 10 close to the forwards or as a deeper 8 with attacking traits, a profile missing from the current squad.
